A Race Against Time: Helping a Young Woman in Crisis
July 2025

Late one afternoon, we received a voice message that gripped our hearts.
A woman reached out in desperation. Her sister, battling a severe sickle cell crisis, had been rushed to the hospital. But due to lack of funds for a vital blood transfusion, they had no choice but to bring her back home.

She needed two pints of blood urgently—but without the money to pay, the hospital couldn’t proceed. She was in pain, weak, and dangerously vulnerable. Her sister didn’t call to beg—she called believing, hoping, praying that someone would step in.
At The Tolaoluwa Foundation, we knew we couldn’t wait.
We assured the family that we would cover the cost of treatment and urged them to take her back to the hospital immediately. We instructed them to inform the hospital that the foundation would handle the payment. There was no time to delay.

We paid a ₦40,000 deposit to ensure admission and urgent care, followed by ₦70,000 to cover the full cost of two pints of blood, including screening and compatibility testing.
This wasn’t just financial support—it was a fight to give her another chance at life. A chance to breathe, to stabilise, and to recover.

Her story is still unfolding, and we are staying in close touch with her family and the medical team. But what’s already clear is this: timely compassion can be the difference between crisis and comfort, between fear and faith.

We stepped in because someone needed hope.
And because you gave—we were able to give it.
